Preparing for your remodeling walkthrough

Make the final review useful with a room-by-room record of the agreed scope, outstanding items, product information and care questions.

01

Bring the current version of the scope

Use the agreed scope and approved changes as your reference. Old inspiration images may show features that were never included or were deliberately changed. Before the meeting, list the rooms and the items you want to understand. Allow time for a practical review with the team instead of treating the walkthrough as a quick photo opportunity. The purpose is to compare the agreed result with what is ready and identify anything still outstanding.

02

Organize observations by location

For each item, record the room, a precise description and a photograph if useful. Distinguish an unfinished agreed item from a newly requested addition or a question about normal operation. Specific descriptions are easier to act on than a general note that a room needs attention. Ask who will review each item and how its resolution will be confirmed. Keep one shared record rather than several competing message threads.

03

Ask for operation and care information

Review how to use installed features and where the relevant manufacturer information can be found. Collect product names, finish references, manuals and any warranty documents that apply. Ask about product-specific return-to-use, cleaning and maintenance instructions. Do not assume that one cleaning routine suits every surface. Keep those documents with the project record so that future maintenance does not depend on remembering a conversation months later.

04

Clarify remaining work and documentation

If items remain, ask for their owner, next action and expected follow-up. Confirm the status of any applicable inspection or approval records with the responsible party. A visual walkthrough is not a substitute for those processes. Discuss any questions about completion and payment against your actual agreement; this checklist does not change contract terms or establish that a particular milestone has been met.

05

Tell a useful project story

Once the work is ready to document, agree which photographs may be shared publicly. Focus on the original problem, the work completed and what changed in daily use. Avoid showing personal documents, private addresses or household members without permission. Those details help New Horizons publish a credible project story and give future homeowners a more useful reference than an unlabeled image alone.
